This River Plate D’Alessandro jersey 2016/17 special edition orange is one of the most unique shirts released by Adidas during the Marcelo Gallardo era. The orange and black design was officially launched as a tribute to the legendary 1986 Superclásico against Boca Juniors, when River Plate celebrated the title at La Bombonera using the iconic orange ball. The shirt references one of the most memorable moments in River Plate history and honors Norberto Alonso, who famously scored with the orange ball during that historic match.

River Plate remained one of the strongest clubs in South America during the 2016/17 season. Under Marcelo Gallardo, the team competed for domestic honors while continuing to build the foundation of the squad that would later dominate continental football. In 2003, he transferred to VfL Wolfsburg for a reported fee of around €9 million. D’Alessandro later became an iconic player at Internacional in Brazil and officially retired from professional football in 2022.
