This River Plate Driussi jersey 2016/17 special edition orange was released as a tribute to the historic 1986 Superclásico against Boca Juniors, when River Plate celebrated the league title at La Bombonera using the iconic orange ball. The striking orange and black design commemorates one of the most memorable moments in the club’s history and honors Norberto Alonso, who scored with the famous orange ball during that match.

River Plate enjoyed a competitive 2016/17 season, continuing to establish itself as one of the strongest clubs in South America. The squad combined experienced leaders with talented academy products, maintaining a high level both domestically and internationally.

Sebastián Driussi developed through the River Plate youth academy and played for the first team from 2013 to 2017. During his time at the club, he made over 100 appearances and scored more than 40 goals, becoming one of the team’s most important attacking players. In 2017, he transferred to Zenit Saint Petersburg for a reported fee of around €15 million.
