This Boca Juniors Abila jersey 2020/21 special edition was released to commemorate Boca Juniors’ historic victory over Real Madrid in the 2000 Intercontinental Cup. The special design includes Japanese-inspired details referencing the final played in Tokyo, where Boca defeated Real Madrid 2–1 to become world champions.

Ramón Ábila joined Boca Juniors in 2018 from Huracán for a reported fee of around €1.7 million after a previous loan spell from Cruzeiro. During his time at the club (2018–2021), he made over 80 appearances and scored more than 30 goals, becoming an important attacking option in domestic and continental competitions. In 2021, he moved to Minnesota United on loan before later joining Colón permanently. During this period, he wore the number 9 shirt.
